PKD – polycrystalline diamond
Polycrystalline diamond is a synthetically produced diamond material with a hardness very close to that of monocrystalline (natural) diamond. The high hardness of the material allows it to process particularly abrasive materials and withstand loads. Tools made of PKD material are therefore ideal for machining lightweight materials such as aluminum, magnesium and fiber-reinforced plastics. In circular milling, tools with a PKD insert require fewer radius corrections over the entire tool life than solid carbide tools. This significantly increases process reliability.
